Overview
USU Eastern Upward Bound is a federally funded grant program
designed to encourage postsecondary preparation of high school
students who are from low-income families and are first-generation
college bound students. During a six week summer program
approximately 30 Upward Bound students experience intensive
academic, cultural, and social expansion while living in the
residence halls at USU Eastern.
The students will be attending class beginning June 5th, 2023 and
will continue through July 7th, 2023. Classes will be held from
8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a lunch break and a study hall in
between classes. Each teacher will teach up to 30 students in
grades 9-12 for one hour a day, four days a week
(Monday-Thursday).
We are looking for teachers who are qualified to teach:
MATH
LANGUAGE ARTS
SCIENCE
FOREIGN LANGUAGE
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
OTHER EXTRA CURRICULAR (i.e. theatre, art, graphic arts, culinary
arts, etc.)
Please indicate in your cover letter, what courses you are
qualified and comfortable teaching.
Responsibilities
Create hands on curriculum for up to 30 students who are in grades
9-12 in class instruction, four days (M-TH) a week from June 5,
2023 - July 7, 2023.
Grading responsibilities after regular teaching hours.
Engage students in the learning process and get them excited about
your course
Help prepare students for college, steer them toward collegiate
opportunities.
Mentor high school students, and encourage a love of learning.

Bachelor's degree in education or related field.

students from Grand, Emery and Carbon counties during the school
year and 30 high school students from Grand, Emery and Carbon
counties in our summer program.
