Job Title: Sundance Mountain Outfitters (SMO) Assistant ManagerDepartment: Sundance Mountain OutfittersReports To: SMO ManagerRate of Pay: $18.00 - $23.00/hourShift: Full Time Year-Round. Variable shifts. Weekends, Holidays, and Special Events are required based on business needs.SUMMARY: The SMO Assistant Manager works collaboratively with the SMO manager to create a positive guest experience in two high-volume seasonal rental/retail operations ensuring Sundance guiding principles brought to life in all aspects of culture and operations. The SMO Assistant Manager must be creative, outgoing, confident, and driven to execute the SMO merchandising plan.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Provide a motivating presence at the busiest times to support the employee and guest experience.Consistently refine operations, create new offerings, and enhance the guest experience. Contribute to the development of a dynamic retail experience.Curate products that fit with the Sundance vision and brand. Create a strategic plan for winter and summer rental programs.Assist during monthly leadership meetings.Maintain an efficient, organized, and clean shop and retail environment.Display confidence in all aspects of rental and retail operations.Assist with SMO monthly Profit & Loss (P&L). Produce monthly reports outlining successes, what needs improvement, and plans moving forward. Thrive under stressful business levels. Assist with periodic employee reviews and goal setting evaluations with your leadership team. Create a tracking system such as Employee Performance Logs.Assist executing constructive end of season employee performance reviews.Ensure consistent adherence to all liability procedure and protocols.Coordinate with IT for seasonal updates of InfoGenesis and continual pricing changes etc. Work closely with accounting office for invoice processing, vendor management, and daily financial reports.Work with sales, concierge, and other departments to coordinate various group needs and to enhance cross promotion.Assist with representing SMO in weekly Marketing meetings to help promote SMO and Mountain activities. STAFF DEVELOPMENTAnticipate operational needs and manage employees to execute a plan for success.Assist with hiring exceptional staff and coordinate with Human Resources on necessary hiring paperwork. In the absence of the manger, oversee a staff of 20 employees working closely to develop staff in all aspects of their position. Provide consistent and focused departmental and daily training for staff.Assist with and maintain a training program to facilitate training documentation such as Training Tracker.Hold staff accountable to SMO service standards, operational expectations, and standards.Engage and train staff to uphold and live the Sundance service standard.Assign tasks to employees to keep them busy during slower periods. Assist in managing schedules, employee punches, and other attendance programs.Assist managing staff labor through Ready Set Work and Isolved avoiding overtime and ensuring budgets are honored. Help staff in InfoGenesis operations and policies and procedures.Lead and motivate employees.Create learning and training opportunities for employees to gain further industry knowledge.Develop positive employee and guest relationships by exhibiting exceptional guest service skills.Handle guest and employee complaints quickly, efficiently, and professionally.Personally embrace the Sundance Guiding Principles and lead the staff in doing the same.Provide constant leadership and management for all SMO staff.Share the Sundance story of land preservation and environmental commitment as the occasion arisesImplement and maintain an effective recycling program for staff and guests.RENTAL & SERVICESWork closely with the Director of Risk Management to update and manage waivers.Work closely with Mtn. Guard to ensure all policies & procedures are within industry standards.Ensure equipment inspection is documented.Assist in updating and running Wintersteiger software for rental equipment. Exhibit a high level of technical knowledge on rental equipment and services.Oversee and document all warranty and repair issues relating to rental inventory.Assist with ordering all necessary parts to maintain inventory and service levels for each season.Competently perform and train staff on best repair and maintenance practices for bikes, skis, and snowboards.Maintain an effective and accurate post-accident equipment evaluation process in coordination with Ski Patrol. Assist with pre-season and in-season inspection of rental equipment according to manufacturer recommendation.Ensure Mtn. bikes post ride inspection and documentation are in line with industry standards.Assist with pre-season ordering of all rental equipment for both winter and summer operations.Coordinate winter ski programs with Ski School to include pricing, sizing, rental etc.Certify seasonally on bindings based on manufacturer indemnification regulations. Ensure all staff have annual binding certifications and training prior to working.Be constantly evaluating rental flow and look for greater efficiencies within your operationsAssist in overseeing the day locker program through Tiburon.RETAILWork closely with the Director of Retail to create an overall retail strategy.Create impactful retail displays that fit the SMO dcor and ambiance demonstrating a powerful eye for merchandising.Keep the retail floor and storage area clean, organized, and well stocked. Effectively cross and up-sell customers and train staff on how to do the same. Exhibit a high level of technical knowledge on hard and soft goods.Schedule clinics with vendors to ensure staff knowledge and confidence in products offered.Have a strong eye to recognize and create product plans to determine product with higher turnover rates. Manage shrinkage by managing theft, expiration dates, enforce return policy, exchanges, etc. Review daily sales reports for accuracy and to closely and monitor discounts, voids, etc. Be actively engaged in managing sales goals.Assist with product recommendations based on sales.Submit bi-monthly commission sheet for staff.Assist with managing inventory for two locations: Sundance Mountain Outfitters and Sundance Mountain Outfitters 2.0.Ensure all inventory reports and physical inventories are executed appropriately and on time each month/quarter.Work with IT to ensure accurate and up to date POS interaction for all hot keys.Follow protocols for receiving product.Proficiently use Yellow Dog Software to create PO's, receive product, generate invoices, and perform physical inventories. Be organized and detail oriented to ensure accurate inventory counts, invoicing, etc. Help oversee quarterly inventory and ensure accurate counts. Consistently produce all monthly and quarterly reports on time. Assist with the annual retail budget as it relates to revenue, cost of goods sold, labor and costs. Manage the seasonal nature of the business and effectively inventory and store seasonal items in between seasons. Assist in placing of orders for pre-season and in season inventory management. Be actively engaged with the Retail Committee in developing logo products resort wide.Listen to guest requests and implement when appropriate. Assist to ensure all purchases have appropriate approvals.Establish and maintain good relationships with representatives and industry partners.
