Job Description Job Description Job Description The City of Saratoga Springs currently has openings for Adult Sports Officials; these are part-time positions with the Saratoga Springs Recreation Department of approximately five to ten hours per week. This is a continuous recruitment and collected applications will be reviewed when more employees are needed for a program. These positions are responsible to act as the official at adult sports, games, or events. Experience officiating one or more of the following preferred: basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball. These positions are under the supervision of the Recreation Director and the Recreation Site Supervisors. The Recreation Department will try to provide the successful applicant with opportunities to grow and progress within the department. Job Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Officiate adult sports games Know the rules to the game officiating Qualifications Education & Experience: Must be 18 years old or older, general sport knowledge gained by playing, officiating or coaching preferred, training will be provided. Certifications Required: • None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: The sport being officiated The rules of the game being officiated Ability to: Talk to adults/coaches Manage time Multi task Working Conditions The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions-including but are not limited to the job functions, qualifications, and competencies listed herein-of this job in the working conditions below. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet while in the office and moderately loud when in the field. Work may periodically require the employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. The employee may be required to work in outside weather conditions, in wet and/or humid conditions. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: The full salary range is as follows, please note hiring will normally occur at the Minimum of the range: Steps (Years) Sport Officials - Adult Programs Step 0 -$23.00 Step 5 -$28.00 Step 1 -$24.00 Step 6-$29.00 Step 2 -$25.00 Step 7 -$30.00 Step 3 -$26.00 Step 8 -$31.00 Step 4 -$27.00 Step 9 -$32.00 Benefits: There are no benefits offered as part of this position. Schedule and Notices: These positions typically work five to ten hours weekly as scheduled by the Recreation Director or Recreation Coordinator.
