  • Analyze technical problems. Design, develop and document solutions where maintainability and reduction of technical debt are primary considerations. Integrate systems with functional interoperability. Utilize test-driven development and lead code reviews.
  • Develop system architectures and design patterns so that solutions can be replicated for sustainability. Collaborate with team members on other technical architecture solutions. Be open to mentoring by senior technical staff.
  • Provide advanced operational support to include monitoring systems, providing customer service, investigating issues, and remediating code deficiencies.
  • Communicate effectively with technical community members, stakeholders, and other team members to assist with eliciting and documenting requirements, presenting solutions, and investigating and resolving issues. Demonstrate initiative on assigned projects working independently on assigned tasks.
  • Provide input for the development of departmental standards, process improvements, and technical documentation. Present work to the department and the University technical community.
  • Other related functions as assigned.Required QualificationsOne year production software development experience. Broad knowledge of software development principles, methods and techniques. Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and testing complex software applications. Ability to design systems for high availability, security, manageability, reliability. Demonstrated experience developing and consuming APIs. Production experience with relational databases. Proficiency with Python and Django and/or JavaScript frameworks. Demonstrated ability to ensure that implemented solutions meet expected quality standards and fulfill the architectural vision. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsThree or more years' software development experience. Production experience with AWS technologies, especially with serverless designs and lambdas. Proficiency with agile software methodologies. Proficiency with Vue.js, Node.js, Postgres, and DynamoDB. Proficiency with Unix/Linux command line utilities and scripting. Experience developing and maintaining software applications at the University of Texas at Austin.Salary Range$50,000+ depending on qualificationsWorking Conditions
