Job Title: CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIANDepartment: Maintenance Reports To: Construction ManagerRate of Pay: $18.00 - $22.00/HourShift: Variable shifts supporting business demands:Evenings, weekends, holidays and special events are required based on business needs and on-call for emergencies.SUMMARYProvide highly skilled construction support and operation of resort and guest facilities within the guidelines of the Resort's environmental commitment. Assist Construction Manager in all capital expenditure projects, building construction, remodeling throughout resort and lodging units. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Assist Maintenance Manager and Construction Manager on building/repair projects.Perform remodeling projects in lodging units.Provide leadership, training, and guidance to Maintenance Technicians I and II on building/repair projects.Comply with Safety Standards for the project and use of tools and machinery.Comply with no-idling policy.Support the recycling program. Keep work and guest areas safe and presentable while performing repairs and installations.Clean up after repair or task.Properly dispose of recycling and rubbish.Respond to and resolve all guest and employee reported maintenance issues/concerns in a timely, courteous and professional manner.Efficiently and accurately prioritize and complete tasks.Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly building tours and inspections.Perform preventative maintenance tasks and repairs as needed.Assist other departments moving furniture, making improvements, unloading and storing supplies as business levels allow.Must have high-level maintenance skills and able to effectively perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the following:PAINTING/DRYWALLProvide Sundance with a high quality appearance in guest cottages, offices and public areas.Maintain inventory of paint and supplies.Requisition supplies as needed.Organize and prioritize assigned projects.Carefully complete prep work to ensure a favorable painting product including drywall repairs.Paint accurately, quickly and efficiently while maintaining a clean environment.Must be proficient in painting techniques and styles.Hang and finish drywall.CARPENTER/BUILDINGConstruct and repair structural woodwork and equipment throughout the property.Build, repair, and install counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework and trim.Install glass in windows, doors and partitions.Proficient in finish carpentry.Carpenter with knowledge of Commercial Carpentry preferred.Plumbing and electrical knowledge.ALL SUNDANCE REPRESENTATIVES ARE EXPECTED TO:Embrace and promote all facets of the Sundance Guiding Principles: vision, mission, service standards, and values.Exhibit job and product knowledge to accurately support and promote all Sundance departments, amenities and programming ventures.Be flexible to meet business demands, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and manage time appropriately.Work with a broad based constituency and provide excellent service to all internal and external guests.Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. As representatives of Sundance all employees including mangers are expected to be in compliance with the Dress Code determined for his/her department as defined in the job description or follow the standards below.In order to best promote a positive, professional image that meets Sundance guest's expectations, employees are required to dress in a professional, conservative fashion that is appropriate for their area. Please use the following as a minimum standard: All aspects of the Personal Appearance policy (SPL#50) must be in compliance.Employees are required to wear nametags at all times while on duty.Clothing must be unwrinkled, clean, and in good condition (no rips, tears, or frays regardless of whether accidental or fashionably placed).Blue jeans are permitted.Men's shirts must be tucked in.Appropriate skirt length is from the knee to the ankle.A tailored fit is required of all clothing.Tank tops, halter tops tube tops, and spaghetti straps are prohibited. Sleeveless shirts are permitted for females.Bare midriffs are prohibited.Proper footwear for your department is required.Dress sandals are permitted for females.Flip flops are prohibited in all areas.Tennis shoes are prohibited unless there is a business need (ie: Mtn. Ops.)Fashion sneakers are allowed within department approved parameters.If your department allows t-shirts, they must be in good condition and have appropriate Sundance logos. Hats are not permitted indoors.If your department allows baseball caps, they must be in good condition and have appropriate Sundance logos.If your department allows beanies, they must be in good condition and Sundance branded.Employees working in retail outlets may wear t-shirts and caps that are sold in their area if no uniform is provided.AccommodationsSundance will reasonably accommodate employees with religious beliefs or a disability that may make it difficult for that employee to comply fully with the Personal Appearance Policy. Superior knowledge of all hand tools, power tools, dry walling, painting, staining, framing and carpentry skills, plumbing and building Construction. TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLSMust possess a working knowledge of internet navigation and electronic mail. Knowledge of Guest Ware 4 and SMS helpful. Able to use 2-way radios for communication to other maintenance staff. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License in good standing as determined by Sundance's Insurance Company guidelines LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
