Job Description

SPANISH SPEAKING REQUIRED

Status: 1 Part-time (non-benefited 28hr/week)

Pay Rate:$16.32 Hourly

Part-time is 204 working days and does not include Holidays and an expectation of no more than 28 hours per week depending on assigned site and caseload. Frequent evening and Saturday work may be required. For weeks with less than five working days, daily hours only apply. Requires use of own vehicle to conduct business. Part-time summer work may be available and may be required depending on agency needs for full time staff and is a requirement for part-time staff with a beginning employment date of July 15, 2013 or later.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(Not all inclusive):

1. Responsible for the family partnership building process.

2. Works collaboratively with Health Specialists to support families in establishing and maintaining medical and dental homes; helps families obtain all required medical assessments, treatments, immunizations and follow-up.
3. Assists the Family and Community Services Coordinator in monitoring attendance and child absence procedures and works closely with the Parent Involvement and Enrollment Coordinator to monitor changes in enrollment status.
4. Encourages parent and male involvement according to the Performance Standards and the Family, Parent & Community Engagement Framework .
5. Provides assistance and support to the Parent Committees and Policy Council.

6. Promotes Parent Involvement & Community Partnerships.

7. Provides professional case management, prevention and early intervention services.

8. Utilizes information systems to support family/agency outcomes.

9. Actively participates in recruitment efforts/activities.

10. For assigned families, implements the objectives of the Parent, Family and Community Engagement Framework.

11. Works collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement a systematic procedure for transferring, with parental consent, Head Start program records for each participating child to the school in which such child will enroll.
12. Demonstrates understanding of the child abuse/neglect laws. Reports suspected child abuse to the Family & Community Services Director.
13. Takes an active role in monthly correlation meetings and functions as an integral and supportive team member of the center Head Start staff and works closely with teaching staff and Health Specialists to accomplish all tasks.
14. Other job-related duties as assigned may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in social services, psychology, family studies, human services or related field.

Two years relevant experience in a social service or human service-related field providing social services for low-income clientele or a combination of education and experience.

Bilingual in Spanish is required.

Must obtain Food Handler Certificate upon hire if not currently certified.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Knowledge of e-mail, internet and computer programs.

Ability to use a computer to collect, record, retrieve data and prepare reports.

- Plan, organize, coordinate, and administer activities.
- Read, understand and interpret health records and plan appropriate courses of action.
- Ability to plan, formulate and execute record keeping procedures in accordance with assigned duties.
Ability to prioritize and manage work load and meet strict deadlines.

Ability to relate to low-income people and diverse populations.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, be detail-oriented, and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.

Ability to write and speak the English language in a proficient and professional manner to meet requirements of the job.
Ability to work independently and as a team to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, families, community groups, and other related agencies and people.
