POSITION:
Solitude is looking for an experienced Slope Maintenance Manager to
join our hardworking team and enjoy the mountain resort lifestyle
Solitude has to offer. The Slope Maintenance Manager will lead our
grooming, snow making, and summer slope maintenance teams. As the
Slope Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for producing
and maintaining a consistent, high-quality snow surface for skiers
and riders in the winter season. In summer months and during the
off season, you will be responsible for maintaining slopes and
infrastructure related to snowmaking, grooming and summer

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
5 or more years of experience in the operation and maintenance of
equipment involved in snowmaking and slope maintenance
Experience in a leadership role within operations
Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, professionalism,
communication skills, and leaderships skills
Strong mechanical/technical background and experience
Budgeting and process management experience
Possess a valid, non-restricted motor vehicle license or a CDL
license
Strong working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office
software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Able and willing to work irregular hours and maintain a high level
of caution while performing duties
Able and willing to work in extreme weather conditions
Able and willing to perform strenuous physical activity such as
hiking or walking challenging, uneven terrain with tools or
equipment
Able to sit for 8 to 10 hours at a time
Advanced intermediate skiing/snowboarding ability strongly
preferred
Reliable transportation in various and extreme weather
conditions
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages department by interviewing, hiring, and training employees;
leading by example in punctuality, attendance, quality of work and
team culture; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising
performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing
complaints and resolving problems
Develops, implements, and manages employee training programs and
procedures
Holds regular staff meetings to discuss operating plans, overall
performance, and individual performance, etc.
Ensures that employees are aware of and always follow all
appropriate Resort policies and procedures
Ensures proper completion and filing of all required reports and
logs
Adheres to all safety guidelines established by the company,
municipal, state agencies, OSHA, and industry standards
Plays an active role in the risk management of the slopes by
addressing safety concerns and identifying areas of improvement for
overall guest experience
Skis/rides regularly to inspect work, identify areas of improvement
or projects, etc.
Manages department budget, including payroll, all purchasing of
equipment and supplies, training costs, etc. to ensure budgetary
goals are met or exceeded
Works closely with the Director of Mountain Operations, Senior Ski
Patrol Manager, and other mountain operations staff to handle
weather related closures
Works closely with the Director of Mountain Operations, Senior Ski
Patrol Manager, and other mountain operations staff to coordinate
operating plans around uphill travel, or other special events
Coordinates with the Director of Mountain Operations, Director of
Lift Operations, and Senior Base Operations Manager to aid in
special projects or events requiring the use of heavy machinery
Works closely with the Fleet Maintenance Manager to coordinate
maintenance related to snowcats and other slope maintenance
equipment
Ensures vehicles are properly and consistently inspected; helps
mechanics as needed to address issues
Directly oversees a regular maintenance schedule of all snowmaking
equipment
Maintains slope drainage and runoff during the summer
Anticipates and identifies new grooming plans and projects
Operates machinery to groom and maintain mountain areas
Understands hydrant locations and pump house functions
Attends staff meetings with other department heads to discuss
updates and to make recommendations to improve service and ensure
more efficient operation
Coordinates with Food & Beverage mountain facilities to aid in
regular deliveries throughout the winter season
Coordinates with the Marketing Department to ensure guests are
receiving timely and accurate information on trail statuses
throughout the winter season
Willing to be flexible and versatile with regard to other
operational duties needed.
